Health & Safety at Work Act workshops: register now
26/07/2016Registration is now open for the NZASE-run series of Health and Safety at Work Act workshops, which run during August and September in centres nationwide.
The purpose of the new Health and Safety at Work Act is to make clear everyone's responsibilities in keeping people healthy and safe in workplaces. The Act clarifies responsibilities and accountabilities, strengthens worker participation and creates expectations for effective risk management that are proportionate to risk.
The New Zealand Association of Science Educators (NZASE) is currently reviewing and refreshing two key documents, that affect schools with regard to laboratories and technology. These are the Code of Practice for School Exmpt Laboratories and The Safety Guidance Manual for Technology. The aim of the Term 3 workshops is to discuss the implications of both these amended documents, as well as the wider Act.
Who should attend?
These workshops will be useful for:
- Principals
- Boards of Trustees
- Teachers in charge of science
- Teachers in charge of technology
- Laboratory managers
- Technicians
