The Day the Balloons Danced
2018-06-11Ian Milne is the celebrated winner of the inaugural NZASE Peter Spratt Medal. The award was presented at the SciCon 2008 Conference at Te Papa, Wellington. Ian was selected in recognition of his dedication to Science education, and the work he did with Peter Spratt. Ten years on, with SciCon 2018 coming up in July, we thought it fitting to reproduce one of Ian’s most recent publications. 2016-09-27In August, NZ Science Teacher previewed an event called ‘Fast Forward’, a week-long festival of science, technology and innovation in the Wakatipu region. Underpinning Fast Forward was an in-depth project that Jim Gilbert, head of science at Wakatipu High School, got his students involved with, that examined the future of Queenstown. With the festival now done and dusted, Jim reports back on a successful look at science in his hometown.

Kamo HOD science HAZEL MCINTOSH and Ngātiwai Pūtaiao project leader GAYLE WELLINGTON share their thoughts on the programme so far.
